Our Heritage
Aero-Clean Landreth; a long name with a lengthy history.
Since 1930, Landreth Cleaning Services has been providing professional, friendly
service to the greater Whittier, CA area.
The original owner, Alan (Skinny) Landreth, started the business in a quanset
hut in the back of the Whittier Ice Cream Company. Upon Landreth’s death, Bill
and Maxine Mosher purchased the business at its location on 12107 Hadley street
in 1955 (see Whittier Daily News article on 50th Anniversary in 1980). Bill was
involved in the development and testing of the Lieb non-immersion fur and
drapery cleaning machines which is still the safest, most environmentally friendly
method available and least likely to remove flame-retardant qualities or to
shrink drapes.
In 1982, the company was purchased by Andy Bandstra. Tall, dedicated and
friendly, Andy carried on the tradition that most folks remember to this day.
People still ask about him and most thought his name was Andy Landreth! (They
thought he was the original owner).
In the year 2000 Andy sold to Mark and Rachael Lund whose family had been
friends of the company way back to the days when the non-immersion machines were
being developed.
In the years Mark and Rachael owned the company, they became friends with Jim
Bockholt of Aero-Clean. They were instrumental in helping Aero-Clean perfect the
cleaning of drapes using the Leib System. At the time, Aero-Clean also helped
them with some of the large volume of carpet cleaning as they experienced some
health challenges and could not keep up for some periods of time.
In July of 2002, the Lunds decided to sell the business and the obvious first
choice was Jim Bockholt of Aero-Clean. Jim had founded and operated his own
company, Aero-Clean since 1969. His manner of doing business was a natural fit
with the Landreth tradition of professional, friendly service. Aero-Clean had
been serving customers from their Cerritos location at Del Amo and the 605
freeway. The Whittier area was already being served, so now it was to become a
more prominent focus. Note: Aero-Clean’s customers from the beach cities of Seal
Beach, Sunset, Huntington, and Long Beach may best remember when the company
merged with Richard’s Finest White Glove Service in 1993, becoming Aero-Clean
White Glove Service. (In 2002 “White Glove” was dropped from the name to make
room for “Landreth”.)
Jim Bockholt, besides his 40+ years of cleaning experience, has served as Los
Angeles County Director for the Carpet and Fabricare Institute (1994-1996), was
presented the “Bill Bailey” award for outstanding service to the industry
(1996), and served on the Board of Directors of C.F.I. for approximately 6
years.
In 1996 he was elected to the Cerritos, California Chamber of Commerce where he
served until 2002. He was elected President of the Cerritos Chamber in
1998-1999.
Jim has been a member of Tippers, a professional business networking club in Long Beach, since 1994.
He has served on the board and was elected and served as president from January 2007 - December 2008.
Jim has been active in the Bellflower, Long Beach, and Santa Fe Springs Chambers of
Commerce as well as being a current member in the Whittier and Cerritos Chambers.
Every day at Aero-Clean Landreth we are aware of our fine heritage and
constantly work to provide “Clean you can count on!”
